Brand New Townhouses - 11b and 11c

Anyone remember the Patty Duke Show, featuring two cousins who are identical in looks but with completely different personalities? That just about describes the townhouses at 11A and 11B First Avenue, Ascot Park. The floorplans are the same, only reversed and that's where the similarity ends. The left of the pair is white and gleaming, a knockout extrovert with a confident Gold Coast glamour while her country cousin nest door has an understated, classic appeal.
Set to the left, 11B is strong on the contrasts with white tiles, white walls and white cupboards set off with dark donkey brown coir carpet and flashes of slate grey. Even the kitchen benches are edgy, with benchtop laminate resembling polished concrete. Over at 11C, things are much more subtle. Here, tone-on-tone neutrals reign, with ecru fleck floor tiles, eggshell walls and a soft oatmeal carpet. The kitchen is pale beech timber laminate and in the bathroom, the edge tiles have a sienna motive rather than the steel blue and silver foil ones packing a punch next door.
A clever use of long windows allows light to flood into the downstairs galley entry. It's dead quiet here with surprisingly country views of tall gums and neighbouring plum and apricot trees. A powder room is first past the entrance, before a long living/dining room with sliding doors outside. The open plan kitchen also gains a big window and has stainless steel appliances.
Light floods in easily upstairs, due to windows each end of the staircase. The main bedroom is particularly large while a back bedroom and adjoining study could cope with a small child and their paraphernalia.
Both the glamour girl and the quiet cousin would love the location. The bright lights of the city, Glenelg and Marion Centre are at nearby points while the park opposite and the nearby library would keep the country girl happy. And everyone would benefit from the train station, just a few minutes walk away.
