Consider incorporating a tablet into your role as a real estate agent

As a real estate agent, there are two fairly simple ways to achieve considerable success.  The first is to connect with people, understanding their needs and how they want to be communicated with, so that you can work with them effectively to achieve the best possible result.  The second is to improve your time management skills to allow yourself to be more productive.

The advent of the tablet, such as the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy and others, gives real estate agents the potential to be able to both communicate more effectively with clients, as well as save time.  However, in order to maximise the advantages of working with a tablet, it is important to understand a few key considerations.

Know your client
The use of a tablet for sales pitches may be appropriate for some clients, however others may simply prefer you to provide them with good-old fashioned paper documents.  It is up to you to understand your clients’ preferences and to know when and if such a modern tool is the best means of conveying your message.

Keep a charger handy
Battery life – ensure your tablet has it and is always charged and ready to go.  You never know when you may need to do an impromptu presentation or send an important email, and if your tablet has no power then you might as well not have one at all.  It is a good idea to keep a charger with you when out and about with your tablet, as well has having hard presentation tools handy in the office or car, so that if you do face a flat tablet, you have a backup plan.

Know your tablet well
Only use your tablet for interactions with clients if you can find your way around it with absolute confidence.  Your clients don’t want to waste their valuable time by sitting with you as you try to figure out how to access the internet or a document.  When you first acquire a tablet take the time to understand its functionality and research the best features that can assist you in your work as a real estate agent.

As opposed to fearing technology or seeing new products such as tablets as gimmicks, give some thought as to how tools such as these can both assist you in furthering your career as well as allowing you to use your time more effectively.  You may find that the incorporation of these products into your daily activities could help you to work more efficiently and thus enjoy greater career success and rewards.
